Your fuse box sends power to the lights, sockets and appliances around your home, and a modern replacement can add individual circuit protection without replacing wiring that is still safe to use.
Our NICEIC-registered electricians have over 20 years’ electrical experience and check your existing circuits before recommending a new board, so you know what needs changing and what can stay. We explain the protection included, any repairs needed and when the power will be off.
Before you book, we explain the replacement price and expected power-off time.
Try these practical checks before you arrange a visit, so you can tell us what failed and which parts of your home are affected.

A new consumer unit from £650.00 can improve circuit protection without a full rewire, provided the existing wiring passes the checks needed for reconnection.
We check circuits, earthing and bonding before recommending the work. Damaged wiring may need repair or replacement, while sound circuits can stay. A new board does not fix faults elsewhere in the wiring, so we explain those findings before you commit.
Our transparent online prices, Speedy Price Promise and workmanship guarantee explain what you can expect when booking an electrician, with clear support before and after your visit.

You’re covered if something goes wrong.

Price reassurance without cutting corners

Repeated electrical faults, damaged covers and missing circuit protection warrant a professional assessment; the age of your fuse board alone cannot establish whether replacement is needed.

Have the protection checked before planning an upgrade.

Ask whether your circuits need additional shock protection.

Find the cause before assuming the board needs replacing.

Keep away from damaged equipment and call for help.

Check available space before adding new electrical circuits.

Keep away and have the affected equipment checked.

Have mixed protective devices checked for safe use.

Missing covers or blanks can expose dangerous parts.

A difficult position may need changing during an upgrade.

Allow one day for a straightforward replacement, including the safety tests; wiring faults, difficult access or moving your board can extend the work and power cut.

Each extra circuit adds 15–30 minutes of safety testing.

Wiring repairs add time before power can go back on.
New parts can take 1–3 working days to arrive for fitting.

Moving your board adds 1–2 days for rewiring and testing.

allow 1 day.
A compact replacement for up to six agreed existing circuits. Includes a metal board, suitable protective devices, circuit labels, fitting, testing and the Electrical Installation Certificate.
Existing circuits must be suitable to reconnect. We explain the chosen protection and any separate repairs in your written quote.
From £750.00
allow 1 day.
A replacement for up to eight agreed circuits, such as separate lighting, socket, cooker and shower circuits.
Includes the agreed protection, fitting, labels, testing and certificate. Circuit count is a guide; the existing wiring and the devices selected determine the final quote.
From £850.00
allow 1 day.
For installations with up to ten agreed circuits.
Includes the agreed metal consumer unit, protective devices, installation and certification. More circuits mean more connections and tests, and the quote identifies any repairs needed before reconnection rather than treating them as automatically included.
From £950.00
allow 1 day.
For up to twelve agreed circuits, with the chosen protective devices, fitting and testing included.
We consider spare ways for future work, but extra capacity in the board does not itself increase your electricity supply. New circuits, supply changes and wiring repairs are priced separately where needed.
From £750.00
allow 1 day.
An eight-circuit example with individual RCBO protection, fitting, testing and certification.
Each RCBO protects its circuit against residual-current faults and overcurrent, helping limit the circuits affected by a trip. We fit compatible devices and show you which circuits each switch protects.
From £650.00
allow 1 day.
A six-circuit example with the agreed surge protection included.
The device helps protect connected equipment from transient overvoltages and is separate from shock and overcurrent protection. We explain its specification and any existing-installation work needed; this is not an additional surcharge on every base price.
From £1,150.00
allow 1–2 days.
Moving the board can require longer cables, a different mounting position and extra work around the meter and supply arrangements.
This example includes fitting and testing the replacement board. We check accessibility, cable routes and isolation before confirming the price; wall or cupboard repairs may be separate.
From £120.00
allow as agreed.
An example starting allowance for an accessible repair found during the home visit.
The work depends on the fault, affected circuit and access, so we explain the repair and agree its price before starting. This is separate from the board replacement and is not a fixed fee added to every installation.

Our starting price is £650.00 for a straightforward six-circuit replacement, including the agreed board, fitting, testing and Electrical Installation Certificate. Circuit count, protection and any wiring repairs affect the total, so we check the installation and explain your quote before you book.

Allow one day for a straightforward replacement, with the electricity switched off during removal, fitting and testing. We explain the expected power-off time beforehand. Plan around internet equipment, heating controls and medical equipment; extra wiring repairs or access work can extend the visit.

Yes, if the existing circuits are suitable to reconnect. We check the wiring, earthing and bonding and explain any repairs needed before fitting the new board. Older wiring does not automatically mean a full rewire, but replacing the board does not repair damaged cables or unsafe connections.

An RCD detects current leaking from its intended path and disconnects the circuits it protects. An RCBO combines that protection with overload and short-circuit protection for one circuit. Individual RCBOs can limit a fault-related outage to that circuit, rather than switching off a group of circuits.

We assess the installation and explain the surge protection included in your quote. A surge protection device helps limit transient overvoltages that can damage connected equipment; it does a different job from an RCD or RCBO. The chosen board and devices must be suitable for your installation.

Yes. Consumer unit replacement is recorded on an Electrical Installation Certificate with the relevant inspection and test results. Keep it with your property records. An EICR reports on the condition of an existing installation; it is a different document and is not a substitute for the installation certificate.

Not solely because it is plastic or an older design. We assess its condition, protection and suitability for continued use, alongside any inspection findings. A new installation must meet the applicable requirements, but an existing board is not automatically unsafe simply because standards have changed.
